A school for pupils with special educational needs in Suffolk

Delivered by Paradigm Trust and Suffolk County Council.

“Paradigm offers a very high level of expertise in special educational needs within our existing school network. This new school has been designed to work as an extension of this, providing more focused support for children learning with communication and interaction needs.”

— Bill Holledge, CEO

I am delighted to welcome you to our Woodbridge Road Academy website.

Our vision is to provide a highly structured and well organised environment in order to allow our pupils to develop both academically and socially. We want our pupils to be equipped to lead lives of happiness, fulfilment and independence.

Principal’s Welcome

We care about our pupils' development as a whole person. We teach a broad and balanced curriculum which includes traditional school subjects as well as a focus on communication and emotional regulation.

We have a highly structured school day as we find that this helps our pupils to thrive and which our pupils have told us that they really welcome. This includes our social times as we understand that this structure helps our pupils to make the most of opportunities to develop their communication skills as well as explore their interests.

We have a low arousal environment in order to support our pupils’ emotional regulation and learning. We aim to reduce distractions as much as possible for our pupils. This is really important to us as we want our pupils to be able to focus on their learning.  Our low arousal approach is central to everything we do from lesson structure to building design.

I hope that you enjoy exploring our website. Please contact us if you would like to discuss whether Woodbridge Road Academy may be the next step in your journey, either as a school for your child, or the next stage of your career.
