Woodbridge Road Academy Newsletter – February 26
Although January can be a bit of a dull month for some, we have had a busy half term as usual.
Pupils have been to visit Suffolk New College, been horse riding and visited Duxford War Museum to name but a few things. Today Year 11 made the food for our social breakfast and everyone joined in. It’s always a popular event.
Usborne Sponsored “Ready, Steady, Read”
Thank you to everyone who took part in our sponsored read.
It was lovely to see the pupils taking part in school as well as at home. The final total has been confirmed at £532, which is a fantastic amount! The money will be put towards more books for the library. Thank you and well done to everyone.
PGL Visit March 2026

PGL 2026 is looming and everyone is getting very excited about it.
Please do NOT send clothes and shoes which you do not want to end up wet and muddy. The kit list is here and below:
Pupils will need to bring:
- A sleeping bag or duvet (the school can provide a sleeping bag if needed, please let us know as soon as possible if you would like us to supply this).
- Toiletries.
- Clothes that you don’t mind getting wet/muddy/ruined – school uniform is NOT required.
- Two pairs of shoes – which you don’t mind being ruined/wet/muddy.
- Healthy snacks.
- A water bottle.
- Any medication taken at night – see further down for information.
- Spending money – please send no more than £10. Staff will put the money in labelled envelopes and will hold onto it until there is time to go to the shop. All change will be handed back to staff and put into individual, named envelopes.
- Mobile phones/tablets/electronic devices – the rule is the same at school, all phones will be put in a locked box and staff will look after them.
Please make sure EVERYTHING is clearly labelled. The school will not be responsible for any missing items.
There will be 45 mins at the end of day where students can use their phones.
Please do not bring a huge bag if possible, there will only be a `cubby` space in the bedrooms to store luggage.
Please send in a couple of bin bags to put dirty clothes and shoes in to go home.
The Local Area Partnership – Preparing for Adulthood Pathways
The Local Area Partnership wants to hear from young people and families to inform the development of Preparing for Adulthood pathways and strategy.
To do this, Healthwatch Suffolk are engaging with three key groups:
1. A survey for young people with SEND in school years 9 – 13 about experience of transition and preparing for adulthood. This includes all young people with SEND, whether home educated or in alternative provision, and not just those with an EHCP.
2. A survey for parents, carers, and guardians of young people in this cohort to compliment the CYP survey with free-text data.
3. A small number of case study interviews with young people with SEND aged 21+ to reflect on what it was like preparing for adulthood.
