Woodbridge Road Academy Newsletter – July 26

Another busy year has passed at Woodbridge Road Academy.

We continue to watch our community evolve and grow. We have had lots of adventures during this school year with the PGL residential, visits from robot dogs, our first ever football fixture against another school, horse riding and we survived the hottest day on record!

We look forward to seeing Maple class in August for their exam results, and to welcoming current and new pupils back to school on Thursday 3rd September.

Staff Changes

We are very sad to be losing Tony Fisher and Steph Lee-Barrett. We are extremely grateful to them for all their hard work and dedication.

We will be welcoming new teachers, Jae Stirland and James Day.

End of Term Certificates

We will be giving out the end of term certificates in our assembly on the last day of term.

There are:

• 58 certificates for attendance of 92% or above this term.
• 8 valued behaviour awards – for no detrimental behaviour points this term.
• 17 Platinum Awards- for 500 or more valued behaviour points.
• 8 Gold Awards- for 350 or more valued behaviour points.
• 13 Silver awards for more than 250 valued behaviour points.
• 15 Bronze for more than 150 behaviour points.

Well done to all our students, we are proud of every one of them.

Instrument Lessons in School

We are excited to offer instrumental lessons for your child here at school this coming academic year.

Learning a musical instrument is a fantastic opportunity for children. It not only boosts their creativity and self-confidence but also helps with focus, discipline, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun!

Our talented team of peripatetic teachers will be offering lessons to pupils in the following instruments:
● Piano
● Drums
● Guitar

Group lessons (Guitar) are charged at £10 per half term for children who are entitled to free school meals and £30 for other children. Single lessons (drums and piano) are charged at £20 per half term for children who are entitled to free school meals and £60 per half term for other children. Payments are made every half term on MCAS.

Lessons are held during the school day and last for 20 minutes. If your child is interested in learning an instrument, please fill out the following form. If your child had lessons at the end of last year please also complete this form to ensure that your child’s place is secured for this coming academic year.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so please be sure to get your forms in as soon as possible. If your child does not get a place immediately, they will be placed on a waiting list and you will be notified when there is a space available via a payment on MCAS.

Dates for Your Diary

We will open the visitors room for parents and carers every Wednesday from 9am. This will start on Wednesday 9th September. We look forward to welcoming current and new parents and carers for a hot drink, biscuit and a chat.
